Ostara celebrates nature's awakening after the cold winter, the awakening of life.
It's time for celebration of fertility and balance: fertility don't necessary means the creation of a new life but alse a new beginning, hope and a new start in our life.
This celebration has german origins, Ostara takes its name from the ancient goddess "Eostre", protector of fertility.
With Christianity diffusion in Europe, Ostara was assimilated with the christian Easter celebration. Easter takes the name from Eostre, the ancient german goddess, and bunnies and eggs often used today for Easter are in origin pagan symbols for fertility used in Ostara.
Eggs and rabbits are commonly used for symbolism on this day, as they always have been a symbol of fertility and life.
Here is my little Ostara altar: pink and black candles for symbolize the equal amount of light and dark, the union of the Goddess and the God. Flowers from my garden, my quartz crystals. Eggs that I've painted with coffee and with curry.
When the sun has set I've burn a lavender incense and light the candles.
I've also clean the room for bring a new start in my life and opened my windows for welcome the warm breeze of spring.
That's all I could do this year for my first Ostara! I hope I can celebrate more the next year!
This year, in Europe, on march 20th, 2015 we were also blessed with a beautiful solar eclipse.
Here you are the only photos I could take, it was really magical and beautiful!
Love,
xxx
